Since I can never find opponents for war-based boardgames and I’m too dumb to figure out vassal, Matrix Games library has become very attractive. Based on what they currently have to offer, this is what I would like to play:
Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm Player’s Edition
Cold war gone hot sounds awesome to me. The scale of play has me interested on a tactical level as well.
Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon
I’ve always wanted to play Epic 40k. This seems even better. A much smaller investment and finding opponents is easy.
Pike & Shot
LOVE this time period. The end of the sword and the rise of the gun. I dont have a desire to paint 15mm minis and try to find an opponent so this game sounds awesome.
To End All Wars
Always want to TRY a game this large and this scale. I don’t know if I could grasp it or just quit in frustration.
Mark H. Walker’s Lock ‘n Load: Heroes of Stalingrad
Hell Yeah, always wanted to play the boardgame but could never find an opponent. This looks like it would scratch the ASL itch.
Close Combat – Gateway to Caen
Yeah, loved this series back in the day. This one is on steam and gets criticized from time to time about its price point. I dont know though, I think it looks great.
Conflict of Heroes: Storms of Steel
I own “awakening the bear” and love it and the series. I’d love to give Kursk a try.
Wow, its a great idea, but maybe too much? The scale is incredible and I wonder just how many hour it would take to finish.
Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue
I love the history behind “Case Blue” but this is another one thats going to be long and complex.
I used to have this and an army to match. Played maybe 4 times? I just dont have an entire day to play in a tournament and there is no casual play around here. Not to mention minis and painting…
Field of Glory – Storm of Arrows
The army I had (Lancaster) was from this book.
War Plan Orange: Dreadnoughts in the Pacific 1922 – 1930
I love this time period, I really enjoy naval combat so this seems like a no brainer.
All of that being said, I do wish their website had a “wishlist” option and they ran some sales regularly. Also, more steam games, I like to keep my stuff organized that way.
